Wayne is the son of the founder, Arthur W. Overton, and joined the firm in 1983. Wayne holds a BA in Psychology, as well as an MS and EdD in Education. He is also a graduate of the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service. Wayne is an ex-chief of the Islip Fire Department, a volunteer at the Fire Island Lighthouse, past commander of the Great South Bay Power Squadron, and is an active member of the United Methodist Church of Islip. He is also a past president of the Islip Chamber of Commerce, first chairman of the Hospice of the South Shore, as well as a founding member of the Nassau-Suffolk Funeral Directors Association. Wayne retired in 2003.
Nancy joined the firm in 1983 and serves as Vice President. She is the granddaughter of the founder, the late Arthur and Cornelia Overton, and daughter of longtime previous manager, the late Fred L. Voss and the late Shirley Overton Voss. Nancy is responsible for accounting, payroll, record keeping, and correspondence. Nancy is a lifelong Islip resident and is a graduate of the Katherine Gibbs School. She enjoys scrapbooking, walking, and spending time with her granddaughter. Nancy is also one of four Notaries employed at the funeral home.
Eric joined the firm full time in September 2001 and became manager upon Wayne's retirement 2003. Eric is the son of Nancy, the grandnephew of Wayne, grandson of Fred, and great-grandson of Arthur. He is a graduate of New York University and American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service. Eric enjoys being active in the community, serving on the boards of the Rotary Club of Islip (twice as President), the Islip Board of Education, the Islip Chamber of Commerce (Past President), the Islip Fire District (Commissioner Emeritus), Town of Islip's Economic Development Commission, and Northwell Health's South Shore University Hospital. He lives with his family in Islip. Eric is an avid film buff and aspiring screenwriter who enjoys sports memorabilia as well as being on the water. He is also one of four notaries employed at the funeral home.
Michael G. Folks - Funeral Director
Originally a funeral director from Sayville, Mike has been with us since 1996. He has a bachelor's degree from St. Joseph's College and an AAS in mortuary science from Nassau Community College. He married his wife, Maria, in 1996, has two sons and is a resident of West Islip. Mike has worked in the funeral industry since he was seventeen years old, and after nearly 40 years in the business, he still loves his job and the aspect of helping families in need. He is an avid runner, who enjoys photography, and spending time with his family. Mike is a member of the Nassau-Suffolk Funeral Directors Association, where he previously served as the cemetery committee chair. Mike is also very active at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, in West Islip, where he is on the finance committee and serves as a parish trustee. He is also one of four notaries employed at the funeral home.
Sean joined our firm in August of 2016 and has been a licensed funeral director for over fifteen years. Originally from Bohemia and a graduate of Connetquot High School, he holds his AAS in mortuary science from Nassau Community College. Sean enjoys all aspects of the funeral business and is responsible for the firm's embalming and preparation work. A resident of Ronkonkoma, Sean has two wonderful boys, enjoys riding his motorcycle, builds timepieces, and is an active board member of the Nassau-Suffolk Funeral Director's Association.
Bob is a lifelong Islip resident and has been with the funeral home since 1970. He graduated from Islip High School, attended Dowling College and received his degree in mortuary science from SUNY Farmingdale. Upon his retirement in the summer of 2016, he still works on a part-time basis and assists with the firm's embalming and preparation work. Bob serves the community as an active member of the Islip Fire Department. He lives in Islip with his family and is an avid fisherman and boater who enjoys traveling.
Lois M. Overton- Funeral Director (1941-2023)
Lois was the wife of Wayne and was a licensed funeral director from 1986 - 2008. She was a former nurse and physical education teacher prior to her beginning a funeral service career. Lois has a Bachelor's Degree in physical education from Hofstra University, a Master's Degree in special education from CW Post College and an AAS in mortuary science from SUNY Farmingdale. Lois was a longtime trustee of the Islip Public Library and was a member of the Bay Shore Lions Club. Lois passed away in June 2023 at the age of 82.
